Welcome to AnnualRing Diary (the "App"), a local-first, emotionally-oriented diary app. By using the App, you (the "User") enter into this Agreement with the operator of the App (the "Operator").
Please read this Agreement carefully before using the App — especially the sections on permissions, optional subscriptions, and data handling. If you do not agree to any part, please do not use the App. Using the App means you accept all of its terms.
1.1 The App provides, among other things: one diary entry per day with an auto-saved global draft; plain-text body; photo attachments (up to 5 per entry, with location EXIF stripped on import); a history timeline and full-text search; a configurable home "look-back"; optional weather (off by default, provided by Apple Weather) and an optional editable writing place; App Lock (Face ID / passcode) and background blur; local-first storage with optional iCloud sync (your own iCloud account); a system writing entry (home-screen shortcut / lock-screen widget); optional gentle writing reminders; and an optional AI companion ("Agent") that draws low-certainty observations and verifiable hypotheses from your entries and, through structured clarifying chats, helps you gradually form a versioned "understanding about you" you can view, correct, and delete — turning your diary into a low-pressure self-correcting loop.
1.2 The App does not provide social sharing, public posting, content feeds, check-in streaks, badges, location history, map views or location-based memories, AI diagnosis/labeling, or impersonation of real people.
2.1 You agree to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and to use the App only for lawful purposes.
2.2 You are solely responsible for the content you write. You may not record content that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, or that infringes the rights of others (including privacy, portrait, copyright, and similar rights).
2.3 You are responsible for keeping your device and iCloud account secure. The Operator cannot recover diary content you lose due to device loss, account loss, or your own deletion.
3.1 Core diary writing requires no account. The App uses Sign in with Apple only when you actively enable the Agent or open the Premium page.
3.2 The App does not request your email, real name, or Apple ID password. The server derives an opaque account token and stores only identity, Premium status, and monthly Agent usage counters.
4.1 The App offers optional auto-renewing Premium subscriptions (monthly / yearly) and a repeatable 100-credit consumable. Purchases are billed to your Apple ID through Apple's App Store.
4.2 Premium only increases the Agent usage quota. Recording, photos, search, iCloud sync, and App Lock remain permanently free.
4.3 Subscriptions auto-renew unless you disable auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → select the App.
4.4 The 100-credit pack is a one-time consumable and does not auto-renew.
4.5 Prices and entitlements are as displayed on the App Store and may be adjusted based on product strategy.
5.1 We take your privacy seriously. For a detailed description of how data is handled, please read our Privacy Policy.
5.2 Your diary text, photos, weather text, and writing-place text are stored locally on your device and, if you enable sync, mirrored to your own iCloud, in a private area the Operator cannot read. The Operator does not hold this content.
5.3 The Agent processes the current entry and your "understanding about you" context only transiently via the Operator's backend to generate a response; the backend does not retain that content after the request completes. Photos, weather, and writing-place text are never uploaded.
5.4 The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
5.5 The Agent's AI capability is powered by the DeepSeek model (deepseek-v4-flash-0731), provided by Alibaba Cloud Computing Co., Ltd., under DeepSeek's official license and Alibaba Cloud's terms of service. The model and algorithm-filing details are stated in the Privacy Policy ("AI service notice").
The App may request: Face ID (for App Lock); Location (When In Use, to fetch weather after you enable or refresh it, or to generate a coarse place label after you explicitly add or update a writing place — coordinates are not saved or sent to the Operator's backend or the Agent); Photo Library (to attach photos and to save a generated logo); Camera (to take photo attachments). Each permission is requested only when the relevant feature is used and can be refused.
7.1 The Operator may update, adjust, or discontinue features as the product evolves, and will notify Users through in-app notices or page updates.
7.2 You may stop using the App at any time, including by uninstalling it. Uninstalling does not automatically cancel an active subscription — please cancel it manually in system settings.
8.1 The App is provided "as is". The Operator does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, or that the App will meet all your needs.
8.2 The Operator is not liable for losses arising from: iCloud account or sync issues; device failure, loss, or insufficient storage; your own operations (including deletion); network or third-party (including Apple and AI model) service interruptions or output quality; or force majeure.
8.3 Agent outputs are generated by an AI model as low-certainty observations and verifiable hypotheses, and may be inaccurate or inapplicable. Their purpose is to help you verify your understanding of yourself, not to draw conclusions, diagnose, or label you; they do not constitute medical, psychological, legal, or other professional advice. You can correct or delete them at any time in "understanding about you".
The App's software, interface, illustrations, and AnnualRing visual design are owned by the Operator and protected by applicable law. You retain all rights to the content you write.
11.1 This Agreement is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Disputes should first be settled by negotiation; if negotiation fails, either party may bring a lawsuit before a court at the Operator's location.
